Rod McCrea
Practice Leader
Rod McCrea embarked on his meditation journey in 2005 when he and his now wife Kris visited a local Vajrayana Buddhist centre in Brisbane. However, it wasn't until 2009 that Rod delved deeply into his Ngondro practice. By 2014, a daily practice had become a part of his life, complemented by his participation in annual retreats, both organised and self-guided.
In 2021, Rod joined Tergar Australia and had the privilege of delving deeper into Mingyur Rinpoche's teachings. Rod has always appreciated Rinpoche’s humorous and deeply insightful instructions, finding them to grow even more profound as the years pass.
An exciting milestone in Rod’s spiritual journey occurred in 2022. Along with Jeremy and Jo, Rod travelled to the United States and together they personally invited Mingyur Rinpoche to visit Australia for the first time. This invitation marked the period when Rod began practicing the Path of Liberation in earnest.
Rod's daily practice is centered around Rinpoche's Nectar of the Path and White Tara, both which he finds to be beautifully simple and incredibly transformative. He diligently integrates these practices into his family and community life since retiring as a social scientist, enriching both realms. The depth and enrichment that this integration brings continue to unfold, and Rod is keen to volunteer and share these benefits more widely in the Tergar Community and society more widely.
